Carolina Marathon Association

The Carolina Marathon Association (CMA) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina. CMA has a 40-year tradition promoting health and fitness through running and walking events. Annually, CMA hosts two of the Midlands preeminent events: the Providence Heart & Sole Women's Five Miler and The Lexington Medical Center Governor's Cup Road Race. Among the state's largest running events, both feature timed road races and walks for all ages and attract competitive athletes, casual runners, walkers and families.

Title sponsor Lexington Medical Center works with CMA to create this annual event that focuses on health and fitness for the entire family.

Providence Heart & Sole Women's Five Miler

The Providence Heart & Sole Women’s Five Miler is South Carolina’s premier women’s only road race and walk. For more than a decade, this event has attracted women of all ages. It is conveniently scheduled in the early Spring and takes place in downtown Columbia near the Governor’s Mansion.

Providence Hospital, as well as WIS News 10, works with CMA to promote this event and create awareness of heart disease in women. At the end of the event, runners, walkers and spectators gather at Finlay Park for the awards ceremonies where a DJ, vendors, chocolate-covered strawberries, roses, and good times wait.
