The Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race celebrates its 40th year and greatly appreciates the support numerous volunteers have given during the years. It takes at least 100 people to work behind the scenes to ensure a successful event. Medical Center Governor's Cup, the Governor's Cup is South
Carolina's marquee running event, and includes a
half-marathon, 8k run, 4-mile walk, and kid's cup.
The 2012 Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race has been named an RRCA Championship Event. The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to award top performing runners in the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+) categories for both men and women. Since 1958, the RRCA has awarded championship events through a competitive bidding process at the National, Regional, and State level to RRCA member clubs and events to promote the sport of distance running. The 2012 Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Half Marathon has been named an RRCA State Championship Event.
